Licences, Legality and Tax
Licences
Our business depends on trust. In the trust stakes, we have two in-built advantages. First, we are a public company, quoted on the Alternative Investment Market on the London Stock Exchange. Our accounts are published for all to see. Secondly, we operate under the respected British regulatory framework. Our corporate base in Britain gives us a politically and economically stable base from which to operate.
The Sportingbet Group holds licences via its relevant trading subsidiaries in the relevant jurisdiction. These include licences issued out of the United Kingdom, Alderney in the Channel Islands, Italy and Antigua and Barbuda (where we are on the of the island's 'preferred licensees'). Further, our Australian subsidiary operates under an Australian bookmaking permit. In addition, ParadisePoker uses the Boss Poker Platform which operates under a Maltese Licence.
Building on these trustworthy foundations, we have developed our own Customer Charter and Code of Conduct leaving our customers in no doubt that we take our obligations reaching across every area of our business seriously.

Legality
Sportingbet games are played over the Internet which reaches virtually every country in the world. Some of these jurisdictions have not addressed the legality of Internet gaming, some have specifically legalised Internet gaming, whilst others may take the position that internet wagering or gaming is illegal. In practical terms, it is not possible for the Sportingbet Group to determine the state of the law in every country, state, and province around the world on an ongoing basis. Under our terms and conditions on our websites, it is the customer’s responsibility to determine the law that applies in the jurisdiction in which he or she is present and that the relevant laws do not prohibit him or her from placing a bet via the Internet nor for Sportingbet to receive the bet from such customer via the Internet.
Sportingbet Plc has been advised that it is in the best interests of its stakeholders that its business is compliant with legislation in the United States, being the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Accordingly, and with effect from Friday 13th October 2006, Sportingbet no longer accepts any new deposits of funds, sports bets or wagers from any US citizen. Sportingbet's US facing websites together with their affiliated URLs and associated companies have been sold and are no longer part of the Sportingbet Group. Any queries in regard to this announcement should be emailed to info@sportingbet.com.
Tax
It is the policy of Sportingbet not to disclose details of an individual’s net winnings or losses, except as required under applicable law. It is for the customer, if they reside in a jurisdiction where their winnings are taxable, to report such winnings to the proper authorities.
