Introduced in 2010, our bursary scheme for current and aspiring undergraduates from Guernsey has proven to be a fantastic success, with all three successful candidates gaining an A or A* in almost all GCSE and A-level results.

Guernsey has no residential University; most students go to UK universities, where they have to pay full foreign student fees. Our scheme has been warmly welcomed, as it not only helps towards these fees, but it gives students work experience outside the (dominant) financial sector on the island.

Under the scheme, we undertake to pay £700 per term and guarantees a work placement for a minimum 8 weeks a year: either in trading or marketing, and a year’s work placement if the study course requires it. There is no mutual obligation at the end of the scheme for Sportingbet to offer or the graduate to accept permanent employment. We just hope that those who work here find the excitement, challenge, responsibility and team spirit to represent the place they want to start their careers in; just like other work placement undergraduates have done.
